At least two have been killed and several others including deputy district Commissioner were injured following explosions in Mogadishu on Saturday.

According to reports, a vehicle carrying Kahda District Commissioner was hit by landmine suspected to have been planed on the road near Hosh market in Dharkaynley district.

The targeted official was identified as Abdinasir Hassan Ali, who is the deputy Kahda District Commissioner for security affairs.

Sources say the blast killed two of the deputy DC’s bodyguards while he himself sustained injuries.

The car was extensively damaged by the blast.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, several people have been injured after troops from African Union Mission In Somalia (AMISOM) open fire on civilians in Helwaa district.

The troops were traveling in a convoy when they ran over improvised explosive devices (IED) near Ex-Control Bal’ad.

No group has claim the responsibility for the blast but the attacks have the hallmarks of al-Shabaab attacks.
