Homicide detectives were on the lookout Tuesday for a City Heights man who has been at large since his wife was found slain in their apartment near Teralta Park.

Abdiaziz Kerow, 45, is considered a “a person of interest” in the death of 36-year-old Muna Kuri, according to San Diego Police.

Kuri’s sister discovered the victim’s bloodied body in a bed at the couple’s rental residence in the 4000 block of Van Dyke Avenue shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.

Kuri, whose most recent contact with her family had been on Saturday, had suffered suspicious wounds to her upper body, Lt. Anthony Dupree said. Homicide detectives were called in to take charge of the case.

There is no known history of violence between Kuri, a well-known Somali native who ran a daycare center in the College area, and her husband, according to police.

Dupree declined to comment on the nature of the injuries Kuri suffered and said investigators had no leads on where Kerow might be.

“The District 9 community mourns the death of a beloved community member, Muna Kuri,” said City Councilmember Georgette Gomez. “She was an active member of the Somali community and caretaker to many of the children of City Heights.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
