A district official who survived a bomb attack on his car and underwent successful treatment in Turkey was gunned down Wednesday night in Mogadishu.

Hodan District Commissioner Abdihakim Dhagajuun was felled by a bullet at a junction located between Howlwadag and Warta Nabada district in Mogadishu.

Banaadir regional governor Omar Filish confirmed the incident noting Dhagajuun was killed following a shoot-out between security forces at the junction of Howlwadag and Aden Adde road.

 

Filish who also doubles up as Mogadishu mayor announced a seven-member team to organise the funeral of the official adding investigations were already underway.

Dhagajuun had arrived in the country the same day from Turkey where he was treated for an IED attack.

His car hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) last November but he survived with injuries.
