HirShabelle Minister succumbs to COVID-19

The State minister of Justice Minister for HirShabelle State Khalif Mumin has died of COVID-19 in Mogadishu barely a week after he was transferred from Jowhar town.

HirShabelle presidential villa chief of staff Ambassador Abdikadir Abdulle Hooshow confirmed the death of the Minister to . The Minister had been admitted at De-Martini Hospital isolation centre last week.

The minister was transferred last week from Jowhar where he had been ailing in a hotel for ten days, sources then told HOL. Sources in Jowhar told HOL the minister had attended a cabinet meeting three weeks ago before he became ill.

There was no immediate confirmation of the death from the Ministry of Health.

The death of the minister brings to two the number of COVID-19 deaths in Somalia.
