Eyewitnesses said two men, including a Quran teacher, were gunned down at Koodka neighbourhood in Hamarweyne district by pistol-wielding assassins who fled the area.

The security forces of the Federal government cordoned off the crime scene and launched an investigation and manhunt mission, but no arrest has been reported so far.

Al-Shabab, the militant group linked to Al Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the killings, saying the victims were members of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency [NISA].
