Gunmen Kill A Former Electoral Delegate In Beledweyne City

Suspected Al-Shabaab assassins were reported to have shot and killed a tribal elder in Beledweyne, the regional capital of Hiiraan province in central Somalia on Friday night.

The traditional elder, Abdi Ali Gareen was gunned down outside his house by two men armed with pistols, who later managed to immediately escape from the shooting scene.

Late Gareen was a former electoral delegate participated in the last parliamentary poll and voted for the current members of the national assembly, according to his relatives.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the murder, however, Al-Shabaab has in the past vowed to target the whole elders involved in the electoral processes of the MPs.
