Farmajo Holds Phone Talks With His Egyptian Counterpart

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has held telephone talks with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to congratulate on his re-election.

Farmajo has thanked el-Sisi for his continued support to Somalia.

The State-run media reported that president Farmajo expressed optimistic about the reelection of el-Sisi which would boost the bilateral relations between Somalia and Egypt.

The phone conversation comes as the Federal government of Somalia is in a diplomatic spat with the United Arab Emirates.

The UAE disbanded training mission in Somalia due to the rift that worsened after Somali authorities seized $9.6 million from an Emirati aircraft at Mogadishu airport on 8th April.

The United Arab Emirates said the money was allocated to support Somali army and denied reports that it has been sent to use the now-solved political crisis in the country’s parliament.
