Bosaso City Council Elects New Mayor

The councilors of Puntland’s commercial city of Bosaso on the Gulf of Aden have on Thursday voted to elect a new mayor, a move that comes ahead of the general election.

Abdisalam Bashir was declared the winner of the ballot after beating his sole rival candidate Mohamed Farah with a majority of 28 votes against Farah who garnered 3 votes.

Senior officials from Puntland state, including the minister of interior witnesses the election process and congratulated Bashir on the victory and urged him to assume his office swiftly.
