AMISOM Convoy In IED Blasts In Middle Shabelle Region

Two landmine explosions have ripped through a military convoy carrying African Union peacekeepers in Somalia’s southern middle Shabelle region, residents and officials said.

The attack took place at Gololey village, situated on the outskirts of Bal’ad town when simultaneous roadside bombs struck Burundian troops of AMISOM contingent.

There were no immediate reports of casualties as result of the explosions targeting the AU forces, but, Al-Shabaab has claimed to have killed several peacekeepers in the incident.

The African Union mission in Somalia [AMISOM] has not yet commented on the Al-Shabaab claims that it has targeted Burundian soldiers with landmines in Middle Shabelle region.
