The Al-Qaeda-affiliated Somalia-based Islamic militant group has claimed a bomb attack in a town in central Somalia on Friday.

In a statement on pro-Al-Shabaab media outlets, the militants said they have killed two peacekeepers from Djibouti, who were serving under the AU Mission in Somalia [AMISOM].

The attack which was used a remote-controlled landmine planted on a key road struck a military convoy carrying Djiboutian forces en route to Jalalaqsi town in Hiran region.

The AU mission is yet to comment on the Al-Shabaab claim.
