In a memo dated June 13 addressed to Banaafir regional government and seen by , the al-Qaeda allied group is targeting upcoming celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the Arte Conference.

According to NISA, Al-Shabaab is planning to strike the newly built immigration office at Abdiaziz District, SYL Hotel, Security Ministry and the Banaadir Municipality offices.

SYL and Security Ministry headquarters border each other and are located within the same area with Villa Somalia, the President’s official residence and the Lower House of Parliament building.

The militants are also planning targeted assassinations of humanitarian personnel, clerics and security officials, the memo says.

NISA adds Al-Shabaab which has in recent months not conducted any major attack in the capital Mogadishu will also plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along Buluhubey-Aden Adde road which links the UN and Airport compounds.

Somalia is expecting to mark 60th independence on 26th and 1st July.
