Al Shabaab has claimed an explosion targeting Kenyan police officers at Amuume, located in the northeastern Kenyan town of Garissa, according to its affiliated website.
It said the blast killed all onboard the police vehicle died on the spot.
There are no independent sources that can confirm the exact casualties inflicted on the Kenyan forces in the attack.
Al Shabaab has increased its attacks in Kenya, particularly in the bordering areas near Somalia in retaliation of KDF involvement in the AU mission fighting against the group.
Since Nairobi sent troops to Somalia in 2011, Kenya has suffered deadly attacks, including sieges at Westgate mall, Garissa University, and the Dusit D2 hotel complex which left hundreds of people.
