Al Shabaab Claims Deadly Blast Outside Hotel In Mogadishu
Al Shabaab has claimed credit for a deadly car bomb attack outside a hotel in Mogadishu which killed at least 14 people and wounded dozens on Thursday afternoon.
The explosion outside Wehliye hotel on a busy road in Somalia’s capital on Thursday that was followed by gunfire, police, and witnesses said.
Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab militants claimed responsibility, saying it targeted government officials gathering in the hotel.
The group often carries out frequent bombings and other attacks in Mogadishu in a campaign to topple Somalia’s Western-backed federal government.
Abdiasis Ali Ibrahim, the spokesman for the internal security minister, told the media that the blast had killed 14 people and wounded many others, who were passer-by civilians.
